Workshop | The feature nobody upgrades for
Your freemium product has a hero feature built to drive upgrades. Free users love it. They use it constantly. And they still don't convert. So what's going wrong? Maybe the feature isn't the conversion driver everyone assumed it was. Maybe the gate sits at the wrong moment in the journey. Or maybe the value is there and the messaging just isn't landing. In this hands-on workshop, you'll work through a realistic scenario from two angles. Through a product ops lens, you'll look at how to instrument and monitor the feature so you can prove, or disprove, that it actually drives conversion. Through a product led lens, you'll question the gating itself: is this the wrong feature to put behind the paywall, or the right feature gated at the wrong time? Working in small groups, you'll decide whether to fix the gating, the feature, or the messaging, and then define the metrics you'd need to know whether your fix worked. You'll leave with: - A framework for telling usage apart from conversion intent - Practical ways to instrument a feature so you can test its role in upgrades - A way of thinking about what to gate, and when, across the user journey - A measurement plan you can adapt for your own product
